About 1 in 30

"1 in 30" is a one month project conducted in November to raise awareness for diabetes. Participants "give up" one (1) thing for the month. At the end of the month participants have the option of donating what ever money they would have spent on the item they gave up to a diabetes charity. By giving up something they love, they are symbolizing what it is like for diabetics everyday. When diabetics are diagnosed they must alter their lifestyles, giving up their old habits and diets.

How do I get started?

The first thing you need to do is pick something to "give up". It can be anything but it's helpful if it is materialistic or something you purchase or a daily or weekly basis. The next thing you should do is fill out the form on the join page and let everyone know what you are giving up. Last, at the end of the month, you can donate whatever money you would have spent on that item to a diabetes charity of your choice.

How old do I have to be to participate?

Because diabetes affects those of all ages, there is not a minimum age that you have to be to participate. However if you are under thirteen (13) years old, please make sure you have been permission by your parents or legal guardian to participate and that they approce of what you are "giving up".

Help! I don't know what to give up!

You can give up anything, but it is helpful if it is something materialistic or that you buy on a daily or weekly basis. Do NOT give up something that could endanger yourself or those around you, like your family or friends. Below are a few examples of what can be considered good things and what can be considered bad things to give up.

Good things to give up
Starbucks
Any fast food you eat reguarly (ex. McDonalds)
Buying tabloid Magazines
Drinking Soda
Buying music/TV Shows/Movies on iTunes

Bad things to give up
Eating
School (homework/schoolwork)

Where do I donate to?

You can donate to any diabetes charity. If you can't choose a specific charity, then you can donate through Jonas Fashion's Firstgiving page. It is 100% safe and secure and all money that is raised through our Firstgiving page is donated to the Jonas Brother's Change for the Children Foundation.
